Every GTA since the third has treated the safehouse the same way: you buy it, it stays yours, and the save point lives inside it. Nelson describes something else. Hideouts move as the story moves, and he puts them nearer to the camp in Red Dead Redemption 2, which relocates with the gang, than to a flat with your name on the deed.

The Extended Look and the official material give three homes so far, and they read as a progression rather than a collection. Jason lives rent free on Brian Heder's land in the Leonida Keys. The pair share an apartment where the fridge has notes on it and the television is on. The Starlet Motel appears as a place to hole up rather than a place to live.

Nobody has published how many hideouts there are, whether you can return to an old one, or whether anything is stored in them. Nelson gave the shape of the system and nothing underneath it, so treat any specific count you see as unreported.
