Money gates parts of the campaign: some chapters do not open until a certain amount is in hand. A robbery turns on one decision, get out fast or take more, and every extra second raises the chance of police surrounding the building.

The safe is a decision, not a cutscene

Previews collected by Vice describe robbery locations turning on a trade-off. Blowing the safe is quick but damages what is inside; working the combination keeps the full value but costs time you may not have.

  • Blow it: fast, less value
  • Work it: slow, full value
  • Time on site raises the chance of being surrounded
  • Money matters to the story more than in any previous GTA, per the previews

What is the choice inside a robbery?

Speed against value: blowing the safe is quick but damages the contents, working the combination keeps the full value but takes time, and time is what brings the police.
