GTA 6 animals: every creature seen in official material
Leonida is Florida, so its wildlife does the talking: alligators in the wetlands, a panther at Mount Kalaga, a shark under a busy marina. Here is every animal the public has actually seen in Rockstar's trailers, screenshots and the Extended Look.
How this list is built
An animal is on this list because someone can point at the frame it appears in. Most come from the official screenshot galleries and the 26 minute Extended Look; a few, like the manatee and the shark, were pulled out of Trailer 2 by frame-by-frame press analysis, which we say so about. Rockstar has never published a species list, and there is no in-game bestiary to quote.

Trackers also list these from the official trailers and screenshots without pinning down a single frame: beaver, boar, bobcat, crane, doberman, german shepherd, rottweiler, duck, eel, fox, seagull, roseate spoonbill, squirrel and snake. Treat them as present but unplaced.
What we leave out, and why
Longer lists elsewhere add cows, frogs, rats, pigeons, possums, skunks and whales. Every one of those comes from the 2022 build leak, which this site does not use in any form before release. They may well be in the game. They have simply never been shown.
Species names follow the real-world animal, because Rockstar has published no in-game names for any of them. We update this list as new official material lands.
Frequently asked questions
How many animals are in GTA 6?
Nobody knows the total. Sixteen have been seen on screen in official material and about fourteen more are listed by trackers from the trailers and screenshots, which puts the confirmed floor around thirty. Rockstar has published no species list.
Are there alligators in GTA 6?
Yes, and they are the first animal the marketing showed. Trailer 1 puts one front and centre, and an official Grassrivers screenshot has three people posing on an airboat with a dead one.
Can you hunt animals in GTA 6?
Nothing official. Press coverage of the Extended Look lists hunting among the activities, and the Grassrivers screenshot with the dead alligator points the same way, but Rockstar has not described a hunting system.
Can you pet dogs in GTA 6?
Press covering the Extended Look describes at least one pettable dog in the apartment block, so a petting interaction looks likely. Rockstar has not confirmed it.
