GTA 6 release time: when it unlocks in your country
GTA 6 does not unlock everywhere at once. On PS5 the digital version opens at midnight on 19 November in the local time of your PlayStation Store region, so New Zealand plays 19 hours before Mexico. Below is every window with the countries in it and the time on your own clock.
The rule: midnight in your store region
Every regional PlayStation Store we checked lists the same moment: 00:00 on 19 November in that store's local time. New Zealand shows 11:00 UTC on 18 November, the UK midnight UTC, the US 05:00 UTC on the 19th. The wave you get follows the region of your PlayStation account, not where the console sits and not what its clock says.
Every unlock window
Fifteen windows cover the 63 countries in Sony's listings. The UTC column is what the stores show. The next column converts it to the time zone of the device you are reading this on.

One time per country. Large countries do not get staggered unlocks: the US and Canada open at 05:00 UTC everywhere, which is midnight on the East Coast and 9 pm on 18 November on the West Coast.

Xbox and pre-loading
The table covers the digital PS5 release only. Microsoft's store shows no unlock time for GTA 6, no store lists one for disc copies, and Rockstar has not published one for any platform. Digital pre-orders can pre-load from 12 November, so the game can be installed and waiting when your window opens.
Can you play earlier?
Changing the console clock does nothing: the unlock is checked against the store. The only route to an earlier window is an account registered in an earlier region with the game bought from that region's store. A code bought at home will not open on a New Zealand account, because Rockstar ties code redemption to the account region.
Pre-load and launch night checklist
- Pre-order the digital version: pre-loading opens on 12 November, a week before launch, and that is when the real download size should appear.
- Free up space before then. Rockstar's biggest install so far was 107 GB, and the Series S has only 364 GB usable in total.
- Leave the console in rest mode with automatic downloads on, so the pre-load and any launch-day update finish on their own.
- A boxed copy is a download code, so it can only start downloading once the code is redeemed. Buy it from a store in your account region.

The UK, Ireland and Portugal open at 00:00 UTC on 19 November. Most of mainland Europe, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Poland, opens an hour earlier, at 23:00 UTC on 18 November, which is midnight local time there.
Are these times official?
They come from Sony's own store pages, which we checked on 8 September 2026, but Rockstar has not announced them and Sony can change a listing before launch. The 19 November date and pre-loading from 12 November are official.
