GTA 6 FAQ: release date, price & PC

Grand Theft Auto VI releases on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar locked the date on November 6, 2025, after two delays — the window slipped from Fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, and finally to November 19, 2026.

There's no sign of another delay. GTA 6 slipped twice — from Fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, then to November 19, 2026 — but throughout 2026 Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly said the date holds and that marketing begins in summer 2026, which would be unusual if another slip were coming. Nothing is guaranteed until launch, but every official signal currently points to November 19, 2026.

At launch, GTA 6 is confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only — those are the only platforms Rockstar has named since the Trailer 1 announcement. No other version has been announced.

There is nothing to cross-play at launch. Rockstar describes GTA 6 as a single-player experience, and the online mode that normally follows a GTA has not been dated or described, so no crossplay support has been announced either way. GTA Online never received crossplay in twelve years, and that is the only precedent there is.

A PC version has not been announced. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has discussed PC only in general terms, and while Rockstar has historically shipped PC ports well after the console launch, nothing about GTA 6 on PC is official.

No version for any of them has been announced. Rockstar has named PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and nothing else, so the previous console generation is not part of the launch. A PC version is widely expected later but has not been announced either.

GTA 6 will not be on Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus at launch on November 19, 2026 — to play it on day one you will need to buy or pre-order it at full price. Take-Two has never put a major franchise title into a subscription service on launch day, and CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly argued it makes no economic sense for a premium new release. The game could join a subscription library later, as often happens once the main sales period passes, but nothing like that is announced.

No official install size has been published and no storefront lists one. The real figure should appear when pre-load opens, seven days before the 19 November 2026 release. For scale, the largest install Rockstar has shipped was 107 GB for Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One, and the current GTA V is around 87 GB on both current consoles.

GTA 6 has two playable protagonists: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Lucia is the first non-optional female lead in a mainline GTA game. Both appear in the trailers and have official character pages on the Rockstar site.

Officially, nobody knows — Rockstar has not released a map or any size figures. Community mapping projects that reconstruct the map from the two official trailers estimate it at least twice the size of GTA V's map, but until an official map is published those numbers remain educated guesswork.

GTA 6 costs $79.99 for the Standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate edition, confirmed by Rockstar when pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026. There are only two editions — the 'Deluxe' and $129.99 Collector's tiers rumored earlier do not exist. The Ultimate edition adds premium in-game vehicles, weapons and apparel; both editions include the Vintage Vice City Pack pre-order bonus. No PC price has been announced.

Digital buyers can pre-load from November 12, ahead of the November 19 launch. There is no PC version to pre-order yet — PC has not been announced.

It is not confirmed. The rumor goes back to a 2021 claim by leaker Tom Henderson that the stock market would return alongside an in-game crypto broker — but in early 2026 Henderson himself said he believes the crypto plan was scrapped years ago. Rockstar has said nothing about GTA 6's economy systems.

Reading the official 4K file Rockstar hosts, the meter shows two dimmed stars and four lit at 14:24, and two filled with four drawn as empty outlines at 15:20. Under the meter sits a row of four icons for what the police actually know about you: your face, your clothes, your car, and the fact that Jason and Lucia are travelling together. Rockstar has never put the number in writing, so this is read off the footage rather than a published specification.

Yes, and the swap is instant while the two share a scene. When they are apart it takes a few seconds with a wider camera move, the way GTA 5 handled it. The pair share missions rather than alternating through them: the character you are not holding keeps driving, shooting and taking part, and previews describe a shared bank balance and a shared arsenal. Outside missions you can spend time apart, phone the other to come over, or swap seats mid-chase so one drives while the other fires.

Rockstar has published nothing about story length. A figure of roughly 80 hours has travelled with the previews since the Extended Look, with no official source behind it, so treat it as an expectation rather than a number. The first reliable figures will come from players after 19 November 2026.

Nothing official has been said either way. After the Extended Look, creators who attended a hands-off session at Rockstar North reported that first-person will not be in the game at launch, and the same wave of coverage put a standard PS5 at 30 frames per second. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has published anything on camera modes or frame rate, and the Extended Look itself is entirely third-person. Treat the absence of first-person as an unconfirmed report until the studio says so.
