GTA 6 fps and graphics modes: PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox
Rockstar has never named a frame rate for GTA 6. Two performance claims are official, though, and Rockstar's last console release shows what the display menu is likely to hold.
What is official
Two things. PlayStation's product page lists the game for PS5 and PS5 Pro and marks it PS5 Pro Enhanced, and Rockstar's own page carries the line "Plays Best On PlayStation 5". Xbox Series X and Series S are listed as platforms. No resolution, frame rate or display mode has been named for any of them.

“Plays Best On PlayStation 5”
What PS5 Pro Enhanced actually promises
It is Sony's label and its criteria are specific: a game earns it by raising the target resolution, raising the target frame rate, or using the Pro's upscaler and ray tracing hardware. So the badge does confirm that the Pro gets something extra. It does not say which of the three GTA 6 picked.

The precedent: GTA V's mode menu
When Rockstar brought GTA V to current consoles in March 2022, it shipped three display modes and published what each one targeted. That menu is the most reliable shape for what GTA 6 is likely to offer, including the gap between the two Xbox models.
| Mode | PS5, Xbox Series X | Xbox Series S |
|---|---|---|
| Fidelity | 30 fps, native 4K, ray tracing | 30 fps, upscaled 4K |
| Performance | 60 fps, upscaled 4K | 60 fps, 1080p |
| Performance RT | 60 fps, upscaled 4K, ray tracing | not available |
These are GTA V's 2022 numbers, not GTA 6 targets. They are here to show the shape of the menu and how far the Series S sits behind.

What the measurements say
RumorRockstar's own 4K release of the Extended Look measures as native 1440p holding a stable 30 frames per second, and Digital Foundry calls a 60 fps console mode extremely unlikely. Rockstar itself has still published nothing about frame rate, resolution or camera modes.
Digital Foundry's breakdown, out 2026-08-28, is a measurement rather than a report. The official file renders at native 1440p with no dynamic resolution scaling, is lifted to 4K by a plain spatial upscale that leaves softness and aliasing, and holds what they call a relatively stable and well paced 30 fps with only very occasional single-frame drops. Ray-traced reflections and global illumination are there but noisy. Their verdict on a performance mode is that 60 fps is extremely unlikely on console hardware, because there is no way to recover enough GPU and particularly CPU time for a 16.7 ms update without compromising the world. Separately, VGC, Kotaku, Push Square and Tom's Hardware all report Rob Nelson saying consoles run the game at 30 fps during development and that a 60 fps option would need a conversation with the technical team, but that quote reaches print through a creator session and a machine translation, not a Rockstar publication, and Nelson's own Famitsu interview never touches frame rate. First-person is reported as absent at launch and a campaign of roughly 80 hours travels with the same wave, both without an official source. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has published anything on frame rate, resolution, ray tracing, camera modes or story length.

Which console to play it on
On the official record: the PS5 Pro is the only machine with a game-specific enhancement badge, and Rockstar itself points at PlayStation 5. The Series S has been the tightest configuration in every recent Rockstar release and never received the ray tracing modes. Anything sharper than that is press analysis of the trailers rather than information, and that lives on the rumours page.
No 30 or 60 fps figure for GTA 6 appears on this page because none has been published. It gets updated the day Rockstar or a platform holder names one.

Frequently asked questions
Will GTA 6 run at 60 fps?
Unknown. Rockstar has published no frame rate, and neither has Sony or Microsoft. GTA V shipped a 60 fps performance mode on current consoles in 2022, so the option is well within Rockstar's habits, but a new open world at this scale is a different problem for the CPU and nothing is confirmed.
Is GTA 6 better on PS5 Pro?
Officially yes, without detail. PlayStation lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced, which by Sony's own criteria means a higher target resolution, a higher target frame rate, or use of the Pro's upscaling and ray tracing. Which of those you get has not been said.
How will GTA 6 run on Xbox Series S?
It is a supported platform and no targets have been announced. The pattern from GTA V is instructive: the Series S got Fidelity and Performance modes at reduced resolution and no ray tracing option at all.
Will console players get a graphics settings menu?
Rockstar has not confirmed one for GTA 6, but it has shipped a display mode menu in every recent console release, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 included.
