GTA 6 leak hacker Arion Kurtaj is due to stand trial on 9 November

Arion Kurtaj, whom a jury in 2023 found to have carried out the 2022 hack that leaked Grand Theft Auto VI footage, is due to stand trial on 9 November 2026 at Woolwich Crown Court in London. The date comes from his own defence team. Red Lion Chambers, the London chambers of his barristers Trevor Archer and Andrew Herd, posted it on 5 August, and it reached gaming media only on 9 and 10 October through Game Rant and GTA BOOM.

The post also confirms what was only a report in July. According to his barristers, Kurtaj has been assessed as fit to plead after two years of treatment at a secure hospital. In 2023 he could not be tried in the usual way: the court ruled him unfit, the jury decided only whether he had committed the acts, and in December 2023 he was sent to a secure hospital with no end date. He has never been convicted. The new trial covers offences he is alleged to have committed as a child. The post notes he is alleged to be a leading member of Lapsus$, the group linked to breaches at BT, Nvidia, Revolut and Uber as well as to the GTA 6 leak.

For players nothing changes. The trial is set to open ten days before GTA 6 launches on 19 November, and nothing suggests it affects the release date. Rockstar has not commented. The case has nothing to do with this autumn's new leaks either: Game Rant notes there is no known link between Kurtaj and the source behind them. We do not publish or describe leaked material, so this note covers only the court case.
