Sony revealed two Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense controllers at its State of Play on 3 September, and the details come from PlayStation's own blog rather than a retailer listing. There is a Black Limited Edition and a White Limited Edition, both at $84.99, €84.99, £74.99 and ¥12,480 including tax, both launching on 19 November, the day the game does. Pre-orders open on 10 September at 7am PT in the US and 10am local time in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, through direct.playstation.com and in limited quantities. The post is signed by Isabelle Tomatis, vice president of global marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, alongside Rockstar.

Both shells carry what Sony calls a shimmering, color-shifting finish, mixing the hues of a Vice City sunset with the glow of neon, palm-tree detail molded into the plastic rather than printed on it, and the VI on the touchpad. The white one is pitched as Vice City at daybreak, the black one as the city's nightlife. They are not equally easy to buy, which is the detail the coverage flattened: the white edition goes to PlayStation Direct and participating retailers, while the black one is listed as exclusive to PlayStation Direct where that store operates, plus select regional retailers. A separate Southeast Asia post carries its own prices (SGD 115, MYR 419, IDR 1,549,000, THB 2,890, PHP 5,411, VND 2,399,000) and points buyers at retailers instead. Japan gets a yen price but is not in the pre-order list, so the same applies there.

Eighty-five dollars reads like a premium next to the $74.99 standard DualSense on PlayStation Direct, and it is worth saying plainly that this is not a GTA tax. The 007 First Light Limited Edition DualSense that Sony announced on 8 April carried exactly the same three figures: $84.99, €84.99, £74.99. Ten dollars over standard is simply where Sony's limited editions sit in 2026, after the accessory and console increases the company explained in March by pointing at currency swings and inflation.

What is missing is an Xbox counterpart. The game ships on Series X and Series S on the same date, and no equivalent controller has been announced there. That fits the platform tilt already in our database: Sensor Tower's estimate puts roughly 77% of pre-orders on PlayStation, Sony rebuilt the PS5 welcome hub around the game back in June, and Strauss Zelnick said in August that the mix skews to the expensive edition. Worth noting too that this controller was the game's entire presence at a State of Play carrying more than thirty announcements. No gameplay, no story, no new date.

Hardware demand is pointing the same way, with a caveat we filed separately as a rumor-grade entry. Nielsen IQ numbers relayed by Christopher Dring on 3 September have UK PS5 sales up 33% week-on-week after the Netflix showcase, and Xbox Series up 34%. In the same breath, though, Switch 2 rose by about a third as well, and Switch 2 is not getting Grand Theft Auto VI.
