GTA VI's Leonida has no Orlando theme parks and no Space Coast

Rockstar has confirmed that two of Florida's best-known areas are not in GTA VI. According to Game Informer's cover story, Orlando and its theme parks, Walt Disney World, Universal and SeaWorld, are not part of Leonida. Neither is the Space Coast, home to Cape Canaveral and NASA's Kennedy Space Center. The answer came from Paul MacPherson, senior vice president of environment art at Rockstar, when the magazine asked him about those places directly.

He explained how the map was chosen. His team weighs landscapes, towns, landmarks, plant species and rock formations, then works with the design and story teams to cut that down to the list that serves the game best. "While we may not have those exact locations, everything we have is geared to getting that full Florida experience," he said. Rockstar did not say whether a parody park or a launch site stands in for them. Talk of Disney or NASA lawyers comes from the outlets covering the story, not from the studio.

So the Florida road trip in GTA VI runs across six regions instead: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. The same issue puts Leonida at about twice the size of GTA V's map, so leaving out Orlando does not make the state small. There is simply no Magic Kingdom to break into. GTA VI is out on 19 November on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
