Rockstar finally named a date: an extended GTA 6 look premieres August 27, on Netflix first

Rockstar announced on August 6 that "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. Eastern, and arrives on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site six hours later, at 9 p.m. Eastern. After more than a year of a single trailer and a pre-order campaign that ran without one, this is the first date Rockstar itself has put on a new GTA 6 video.

The Netflix part is the unusual bit. For those six hours the video is behind a subscription: Netflix members see it first, everyone else waits for the YouTube and rockstargames.com posting at 9 p.m. Eastern, which is free and needs no account. Netflix's vice president of nonfiction series, Brandon Riegg, framed it as a milestone for the platform, saying the anticipation around the game is unprecedented and that Netflix is honored to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with its members first.

What Rockstar did not say is just as important. There is no stated running time, no list of what will be shown, and no mention of gameplay. "An Extended Look" is Rockstar's own wording, and the company never called it Trailer 3, which is the name the press and our own hub use for the next video in the series. The expectation that this is the gameplay reveal comes from journalists and fans, not from the announcement. Nothing in it touches the release date either: November 19, 2026 stands where it was.

For planning your evening, 3 p.m. Eastern on August 27 is 8 p.m. in London, 9 p.m. across Warsaw, Berlin, Paris and Madrid, 10 p.m. in Moscow and 4 p.m. in Brasilia. The wider YouTube release lands six hours after that, which for most of Europe means the small hours of August 28, and 10 p.m. on the 27th in Brazil.

Our Trailer 3 page now carries the confirmed premiere date instead of the summer guesswork, and the fact about the trailer window has moved from rumor to confirmed. The breakdown itself goes up the same day, with every claim labeled by status and sourced, the way the first two trailers are covered.
