GTA 6 is now rated for adults in Japan and South Korea
Grand Theft Auto VI now has an age rating in Japan. Since 17 October the Japanese PlayStation Store lists it as CERO Z, the board's 18+ only category, with two content icons: crime and violence. According to Game Spark, the Japanese Microsoft Store shows the same rating. Until then the Japanese listing said the game was still under review, and the launch trailer of 15 October said so too.
South Korea finished its review at about the same time. The Korean PlayStation Store shows the game as 19+, with five descriptors: crime, drugs, language, sexual content and violence. Inven reports that the decision came on 16 October from the GCRB, the private board that has rated adult console and PC games in Korea since November 2025.
The Japanese icons raise one open question. CERO also has separate icons for sexual content and drugs, and GTA 6 carries neither, while the ESRB and the Australian board name sex scenes and drug use. GTA 5 got the same two icons in Japan, and Game Spark notes that its Japanese version had altered sex scenes and some gore cut. Rockstar has not said whether the Japanese GTA 6 will differ from other versions.
For buyers, GTA 6 is now adults-only in every major market we track. In Japan the PlayStation Store also asks for a credit card to buy a CERO Z game, whatever the wallet balance. The game comes out on 19 November.
