Nintendo dates the Ocarina of Time remake for November 5, two weeks before GTA 6
Nintendo used its Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8 to give the Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time a release date: November 5, 2026, at $59.99, with visuals Nintendo describes as completely overhauled. That is exactly two weeks before Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on November 19, and the games press noticed at once. Push Square called Zelda the only big name willing to go up against GTA 6 in November; Pure Xbox summed up 2026 as a year of publishers purposely avoiding the month; Game Informer framed the pair as a one-two punch.
The surrounding calendar shows why one dated release counts as news. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 lands on October 23 rather than its usual November slot. Forza Horizon 6, Crimson Desert and Marathon all shipped in spring, Take-Two placed its own NBA 2K27 on September 4, and Danganronpa 2x2 jumped clear of the holiday quarter into 2027 with its creator naming GTA 6 as one reason. Aside from Nintendo, the November list that remains is small: Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered on November 3 and Gothic 3 Classic.
Two caveats keep this in proportion. Nintendo did not mention GTA 6 at all; the head-to-head reading is the press's, not the publisher's. And the two games do not share a console: GTA 6 is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, so a Switch 2 exclusive is the one kind of big release that can sit next to it without splitting the same wallet. Nintendo also dated a Zelda-themed Switch 2 console for October 29. The November 19 date for GTA 6 is unchanged.
